Umbral Voidcallers' Ability Not Functioning?

So, I was using these troops against the Alliance Pikeman boss, and I noticed that despite their level 2 ability claiming to cause them to deal 75% bonus True Damage (ignores defenses) on their next attack every time any unit dies, I saw that they were not dealing any extra damage, while watching my troops be massacred and paying attention to the damage dealt on each of their following attacks.

If this is a bug, please fix this.
